This paper goes one step further and uses the same income shares to estimate a yearly income distribution for 97 countries between 1970 and 1998. The rest of the paper is organized as follows. Section 2 discusses the data and the estimation of the individual country distributions for each year between 1970 and 1998. Section 3 estimates worldwide poverty rates and headcounts. Section 4 estimates global income inequalities using seven popular indexes. Section 5 concludes.
