Persistent differences in health have long been a serious health policy concern in many countries of the world. Even more, health inequities have been put at the heart of the global political agenda. This global vision calls for pushing health inequity to the forefront and recommends the adoption of Health in All Policies as the best strategy to halt the unintended negative impact of public policies on health. Fundamental to achieving the health equity goal is the ability of countries to identify and monitor progress on the health front for all people ‘‘leaving no one behind.’’
