Ambitious multi-stakeholder partnerships are an important aspect of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and will be critical to its success. They will enable diverse actors to work together towards clearly identified common goals by pooling their knowledge, expertise and resources, as highlighted in target 17.16 of the 2030 Agenda.

The present policy brief reflects on the importance of public engagement and multi-stakeholder partnerships to achieve gender justice within the context of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It examines the nature and characteristics of effective partnerships and outlines the role of various stakeholders, including governmental institutions, civil society organizations, the private sector and the United Nations, to support the achievement of SDG gender-related targets.
